American smartphone giant Apple is rumoured to launch three new iPhone versions next year, including iPhone 8, which has been codenamed ‘Ferrari’, along with two iPhone 7s models in 2017.
The iPhone 8, which is rumoured to be Apple’s 2017 flagship handset, is expected to boast high-tech features like wireless charging, an ‘invisible’ home button, and a bezel-less OLED display which may indicate that the screen will be curved.
While these features are available on existing models, and is expected on other high-end Android handsets next year, but Apple’s wireless charging technology might be better than anything currently available in stores.
The new leak comes from manufacturing documents reportedly from Apple's East Asian supply chain.
The leaked document lists three new handsets, labelled D20, D21 and D22.
D20 and D21 will reportedly release as the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus.
But the model D22, codenamed 'Ferrari' in the document, will enter the frame as a special 'souped-up' model.
Meanwhile, Apple Insider, which obtained a copy of the leaked documents, describes the new phone as “a completely redesigned high-end variant”.
The documents backing the leak also reveal internal design changes such as breaking up of the internal circuit board into two. One piece will carry the new A11 processor chip and flash storage, with the other carrying the Wi-Fi and communications bits.
It is also rumoured that Apple’s next flagship smartphone may have a dual-lens 3D camera, which comes with augmented reality to generate real-time views of surroundings. It could also have curved glass casing on the back, and a folding element.
Rumours also suggest that the ‘Ferrari’ could come in 5 inch and 5.8 inch variants.
