New Delhi: In line with Google’s announcement regarding the launch of the new Android OS Android Nougat, Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has now confirmed that three of its top smrtphones will be getting the Android N update.
"So sweet. Android Nougat—the next version of Google's Android—will be coming to the HTC 10, HTC One A9 & HTC One M9," HTC tweeted confirming the update.
The HTC One M9 was launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop and later updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, while the HTC One A9 and HTC 10 came with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
HTC is one of the first smartphone makers to confirm the Android N update for its phone. Google recently rolled out the Android N 4 Developer Preview for Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Pixel C, Nexus Player, General Mobile 4G (Android One) and Sony Xperia Z3.
At the Annual I/O Developer conference this year, Google announced the beta release of Android N and added support for new Vulcan API to improve graphics performance.
The new version of Android will also see changes to multi-tasking, notifications, split-screen, and support to VR platform.
Google is also expected to bring split-screen multitasking feature and picture-in-picture mode to Android TV. With this, Android N users can keep the video player in the corner while doing something else on their smartphone. Notifications will include quick reply option from the tab itself.
There are strong rumours that HTC will soon team up with Google once again to launch two Nexus-branded smartphones later this year. The smartphones are likely to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
