Japanese automaker Honda has scheduled the India launch of its hybrid version of Accord on October 25th,2016.
According to a report in Times of India, booking for the sedan have already begun and the company is expecting a positive response ahead of the festive season. The car is expected to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, with bookings already open at Rs 51,000.
Notedly, the Accord will be the only hybrid model in Honda's India portfolio.
The ninth generation Accord promises to further push the boundaries - especially in its hybrid avatar that will help it directly take on the Toyota Camry hybrid. The car was an eye turner at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.
The Accord Hybrid will house a 2.0-litre, i-VTEC petrol engine, working in tandem with two electric motors that are supplied juice from a 1.3 kW lithium-ion battery. Cumulatively, this powertrain is capable of churning out 196 BHP and over 300 Nm of torque. A petrol variant of the Accord will also be introduced in the Indian market, powered by a 2.4-litre engine that is good for 185 BHP.
The Accord has been a premium offering from Honda in India ever since it was first launched here back in 2008.
The car gets numerous changes on the outside with all-new bumpers, stylish headlights, a chrome-laced front grille, among others. On the inside, features like a seven-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support are almost certain.
The fuel efficiency is expected to hover around the 20kmpl mark. Honda may also launch a petrol-only version of the Accord but this is not confirmed yet.
