Bengaluru has been ranked as the most dynamic city in the world by the World Economic Forum (WEF), beating even the Silicon Valley of the United States which is ranked third.
Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam sprung a surprise by grabbing the second spot.
India has also snatched the lead from China as home to maximum number of world’s fastest-changing cities, taking six spots out of a list of top 30 cities.
Hyderabad is placed at the fifth position, a place above London (6).
Pune (13) rose above New York (14), Beijing(15) , Sydney(16) and Paris(17).
Chennai (18) beat San Francisco (21) as Delhi (23) and Mumbai (25) secured a position much above Los Angeles (27) and Stockholm (30).
“India snatched the lead from China as home to some of the world’s fastest-changing cities, taking six of the top 30, compared with China’s five. The overriding factors that characterise the world’s most dynamic cities are technology and innovation — and cities that best absorb, adapt and leverage these drivers come out on top,” the WEF said in a brief note.
Besides the use of technology, the key factors that contributed to the ranking included liveability, affordability, space, environment and housing.
The WEF note also added that global geopolitics, marked by nationalism and protectionism, have also been considered while ranking these cities.
