New Delhi: The Zenfone Max, the latest smartphone from Asus, comes with an improved battery and processor. The device is available in two variants and is priced at Rs 9,999 that comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, and the 3GB RAM variant that also sports 32GB of internal storage comes at Rs. 12,999.
This is the same Zenfone Max that was launched earlier this year with a large 5000mAh battery this updated version comes with faster octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor for an improved multi-tasking experience, Android Marshmallow, Google Now on Tap and more.
Here are some aspects that we have noted down for the new Asus Zenfone Max:
Display and Design
The design of the new Asus Zenfone Max is similar to the past model which was launched back in January. It features a plastic body with rubber back cover. The handset is on the heavier side and weighs 202 grams, but it is fine considering the huge 5000mAH battery.
The smartphone comes with a big 5.5-inch TFT LCD (IPS) display but sports a really low resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The smartphone measures 77.5 x 156 x 10.55 mm.
Processor, memory and OS
Asus Zenfone Max now comes with 1.5 Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, which is an upgrade from the older version, which had a Qualcomm's quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor. The smartphone we got is a 2GB RAM version coupled with 32GB internal memory. The phone features a microSD card slot and supports an external memory cards of up to 64GB. The updated smartphone runs the Asus ZenUI along with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as the base that wins over some brownie points. The refreshed hardware will definitely give a great multitasking experience.

Camera
The Asus smartphone comes with a 13MP rear camera with a dual tone LED flash and laser autofocus assist but the picture quality is a bit unsatisfactory. When we used the camera in low light a yellowish tinge disappointed us but we have explore the camera and wait to see how it performs. The camera also features a 5MP front facing sensor for selfies.
Battery
The battery is a big plus point of Zenfone Max. It has a massive 5000mAh non-removable battery. This is where we can expect the device to really perform well. Also it comes with the OTG cable that can be used to charge other devices. The OTG cable also can be used to connect USB drives and transfer files.
Conclusion
With the given price tag, it is indeed hard to argue on the specifications on the Asus Zenfone Max, and can be considered as a great value for money smartphone. But if we take a look at the comparison Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with good looks and performance, will the Zenfone Max stand a chance? We will have to see after doing a detailed review of the smartphone.
