New Delhi: Apple is all set to launch its next generation watch that could sport micro LED panels and more features. Reports suggest that the second-generation Apple smartwatch, dubbed as Apple Watch 2, could be launched sometime in late 2017 and will have several improved features.
Though Apple has not yet launched the second-generation Apple Watch, the tech giant has slashed prices of the Watch and even introduced an improved WatchOS 3.
According to Digitimes, Apple Watch 2 will bring forth is replacement of the OLED screen with micro LED panels. Also, this year’s iPhone will retain the LCD panels.
Apple may be shifting to the micro LED technology for its low power consumptions and ability to deliver improved colour and brightness levels than the existing LCD panels. Also the micro LED panels are considered to have better battery efficiency will also allow Apple to make a slimmer Watch.
Reports also suggest that Apple may come with LuxVue Technology, which it acquired in 2014. LuxVue Technology specializes in micro LED technology and the company has last year set up a lab in Taiwan that was dedicated for R&D of new display technologies.
Apple is also rumored to be working on a more efficient display technology along with higher resolution and might debut the new Apple watch with a 5K Display.
