Union Budget 2018 proposals kick in from today: Here's what is costlier, cheaper

Union Budget 2018, presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on February 1, will take effect from today. While this year's budget was unique as it did not deal with taxes, as it used to, due to the introduction of Goods and Services Taxes, prices of several day-to-day items will still be affected due to variations in Import duty.

What it means is the budget 2018 will only affect the prices of imported items.

Here is a look at what will be cheaper and what will be costlier from today: 

Costlier: 

#Mobile handsets and accessories

#LCD/ LED/ OLED TV panel

#Beauty products, perfumes

#Imported footwear and silk fabrics

#Fruit juices

#Crude and refined edible vegetable oils

#Wrist watches, pocket watches, smart watches/wearable devices and sunglasses 

#Motor vehicles

#Gemstones, diamonds

#Gold items

#Truck and bus radial tyres

Cheaper: 

#Raw cashew nuts

#Solar tempered glass raw materials 

#Accessories of cochlear implants
