Bihar: At least 10 children are reportedly missing after a boat capsized in the Bagmati river near Madhupur Patti ghat in Bihar's Muzaffarpur on Thursday. The incident occured when students were going to school.
According to reports, there were around 30 childrens in the boat when it capsized. Out of them, at least 10 are still missing while 20 have been rescued, officials said.
The boat was carrying 30 children and 20 of them have so far been rescued, they said.
Talking to reporters, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “Rescue operation is underway… I have asked the district magistrate concerned to look into the matter with urgency. The state government will provide all assistance to the affected families.”
The District Magistrate (DM) Muzaffarpur is investigating the incident.
"The incident took place between 10:30 - 11 am today. Teams of NDRF and SDRF rushed to the accident site," said DM Muzaffarpur.
Nitish Kumar is in Muzaffarpur to review the progress of ongoing projects in the district.
