Amid the Centre's intensified efforts to bring the accused in the alleged NEET paper leak to the court of law, Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday (June 29) defended the government's stance in the case.
Speaking to the media during his first visit to his parliamentary constituency after his induction into the Modi 3.0 Union Cabinet, the LJP (Ram Vilas faction) chief said the government would make an appropriate decision in the case and it would be in the best interest of students.
"The NEET case is being probed by the concerned agencies and is also before a court of law. Nonetheless, the government is holding talks with all stakeholders. An appropriate decision will be taken at the appropriate time, in the best interest of students," Paswan said.
Further, the Hajipur MP also criticized the opposition for stalling parliamentary proceedings over the issue. In a media conversation, he called it a reflection of the opposition's "flawed mindset" and mentioned that "if it wants to raise issues concerning the public, it must allow the House to run properly and take part in debates and discussions."
Significantly, Paswan's statement comes after the uproar by the opposition in Parliament over the alleged irregularities in NEET. While, the Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments on Friday, the Lok Sabha too saw intensified sloganeering over the NEET issue raised by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for dicussion.
JD(U) to Lead Coalition in State for Upcoming Assembly Polls
Meanwhile, apart from emphasizing the government's stance on the NEET issue, the Union Minister for Food Processing and Industries on Saturday (June 29) also addressed several queries about preparations for the state assembly polls due next year and the opposition's charge that a recent spike in crime signaled a worsening law and order situation in Bihar.
On the assembly poll preparation, Paswan said, "NDA ally Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister who heads the JD(U), will lead the coalition in the state assembly." While, regarding the opposition's charge, he added, "The situation may be a cause for concern, but the government in the state is competent to tackle it."
Further, Paswan also expressed delight that unlike in neighboring Uttar Pradesh, in Bihar, "the people were not swayed by the false propaganda of the opposition that the NDA was out to scrap the Constitution and do away with reservations."
