Bihar: Two go missing after boat capsises in Ganga river

A boat capsises in river Ganga in Bihar's Maner in the early hours of Sunday (May 19). Almost 12 people were present on the boat. While two go missing, rest of them managed to swim to the bank.

Two people went missing after a boat capsised in river Ganga on Sunday in Mahavir Tola village of Bihar’s Maner. The search and rescue operation is underway.

The boat capsied while some farmers were approaching toi Mahavir Tola ghat on Sunday morning. Maner Police Station head, Sunil Kumar Bhagat said, “In the morning around 7-8 am, a few farmers were taking their vegetables in a boat, and as they were about to reach the Mahavir Tola ghat, the boat capsized. “

He further said that all the people on the boat,except two, managed to swim to the banks. He said that there were around 10-12 people on the boat when the incident happened. 

Telling about the measures taken, Bhagat said that a search operation was underway and the SDRF team had reached the accident site. 

Earlier on May 8, similar incident was reported from Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama, where a boat capsised in Jhelum river. The tragic incident involved 9 people on the boat, seven of whom were rescued while two went missing.
