German auto giant Volkswagen today launched the new Passat with at an introductory price tag of Rs 29.99 lakh for the lower-spec Comfortline variant and Rs 32.99 lakh for the top-end Highline variant (all prices ex-showroom).
This is Volkswagen’s second offering of the year after the launch of the Tiguan. With the launch of new Passat, Volswagen has completed two out of three promised launches in India this year.
The new Passat is powered by the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine which is capable of generating 177 PS power and 350 NM of torque. It’s engine comes mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission.
The newly launched vehicle has several other features like park-assist for hands-free parking, LED headlamps and tail lamps with DRLs and hill start assist.
It is also equipped with 9 airbags inside the cabin in addition to ESP, ABS, ASR and tyre pressure monitoring system.
The new Passat competes primarily against the likes of the Toyota Camry and the Skoda Superb and Volkswagen has touted it as the company’s most futuristic offering in India so far.
