Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla took it up on Twitter to announce the company's plans to introduce the Model Y electric crossover on 14th March. Musk tweeted on Sunday, "Model Y' unveil event on March 14 at the LA Design Studio. Detailed specs and pricing will be provided, as well as test rides in Y".
Tesla's LA Design Studio is adjacent to SpaceX in Hawthorne, California and the Musks twitter handle further said that the "Model Y', being an SUV, is about 10 per cent bigger than Model 3, so will cost about 10 per cent more and have slightly less range for same battery".
According to the reports from Forbes, in response to the 25 million followers on Twitter, Musk confirmed that the new vehicle would have "normal" doors and not the complex falcon wing that is used on the "X" model that some find troublesome.
Musk made this announcement after he declared his plan of selling a base version of the "Model 3" electric sedan for $35,000.
Elon Musk said that the "Y" variant would closely resemble the Model 3, but no images were available for the same.
