West Bengal Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday said that the Congress High command has formally approved the electoral alliance with the Left parties for the upcoming assembly election in the state.

In Bihar, where Congress emerged as the weak link in the grand alliance, the Congress could also give the responsibility to a new face.

Leaders like Randeep Singh Surjewala, KC Venugopal and Rajeev Sattav who are considered to be close confidantes of former Congress president were not a part of the meeting. 

Departing from its earlier strategy of not fighting the local body elections in the state of Haryana on party symbol, Congress for the very first time will be contesting the upcoming local body election in the state of Haryana on party symbol.
