The 14-month-old Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka lost the trust vote, ending days of suspense over the dramatic sequence of events in the state. The ruling Congress-JDS coalition managed to get 99 votes in their favour, while Opposition BJP got 105 votes. HD Kumaraswamy handed over his resignation to the Governor. The resignation was accepted and the state now awaits its next chief minister.

BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur was summoned to the BJP headquarters for her "cleaning toilet" remark. She was pulled up by BJP working president JP Nadda for the comments that were seen to be mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.

Karnataka political crisis: Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on rebel Karnataka MLAs plea. The apex court will pronounce its verdict at 10.30 am tomorrow. The Supreme Court is examining the issue of resignations of 15 MLAs in Karnataka Legislative Assembly. 10 Congress-JD(S) MLAs had initially approached Supreme Court. They had urged the apex court to direct Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar to accept their resignations. Five more MLAs have joined this group. Supreme Court has agreed to hear their pleas as well.
