CHICAGO (AP) — The Latest on the shooting of a security guard by a suburban Chicago police officer (all times local):

2:50 p.m.

A security guard at a suburban Chicago bar where a black co-worker was fatally shot by a white police officer says he never heard the officer order the other man to drop his gun.

Dorian Myrickes' comments Wednesday in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from his hospital room came hours after the Illinois State Police released a statement that said the officer had ordered Jemel Roberson to drop his weapon. State police declined to comment beyond the news release.

Myrickes says he had just been shot in the shoulder by a gunman inside Manny's Blue Room in Robbins early Sunday when he saw the officer point his gun at the 26-year-old Roberson. He says he could hear people yelling that Roberson was a security guard. The officer then fired multiple shots.

Myrickes also said that Roberson had a hat and sweat shirt that both had the word "Security" on it. But state police said Roberson was dressed in plain black clothing with no marking "readily identifying him" as a security guard.

State investigators say witnesses reported that a police officer repeatedly ordered a man to drop his gun before he was fatally shot outside a suburban Chicago bar where he worked as a security guard.

Illinois State Police released a statement about the early Sunday shooting that killed 26-year-old Jemel Roberson. The statement doesn't address reports from witnesses who say the officer fired despite people shouting that Roberson was a security guard.

Roberson was shot outside Manny's Blue Room in Robbins by an officer responding to a report of shots-fired at the bar.

At attorney for Roberson's mother says Roberson was holding down a shooting suspect and wearing a hat emblazoned with the word "security" when he was shot.

An official in a neighboring community has asked prosecutors to investigate , saying he's concerned race played a role in the shooting. Roberson was black. The officer is white.
