NEW YORK (AP) — A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction and life prison sentence given to a London imam after concluding evidence was overwhelming.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also said Tuesday that Mustafa Kamel Mustafa's 2012 extradition to the United States from England did not come with conditions preventing his incarceration at the Supermax federal prison in Florence, Colorado.

Mustafa's lawyers say their client, who is missing both hands, belongs at a prison better suited to disabilities.

Mustafa was convicted in 2014 of supporting terrorist organizations by ensuring there were satellite communications for kidnappers during a 1998 attack on tourists in Yemen, of supporting plans to open an al-Qaida training camp in Bly, Oregon, and sending someone to an Afghanistan training camp. Four hostages were killed in Yemen.
