MIAMI (AP) — Hurricane Oscar is weakening but still producing high surf along Bermuda's beaches as it speeds north over the Atlantic Ocean.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami say Oscar was centered Wednesday morning about 805 miles (1,300 kilometers) east-northeast of Bermuda with top sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph).

The storm was moving northeast at 29 mph (46 kph).

Forecasters say Oscar is expected to soon lose its status as a tropical storm. But it still will pack a powerful punch as its remnants head toward Iceland and the British Isles this weekend.

Oscar is the eighth hurricane of the six-month Atlantic hurricane season that ends Nov. 30.
