PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Bob Bryan, half of the comedy duo "Bert and I," has died in his home in Quebec.
Bryan and the late Marshall Dodge created punch lines in a dormitory room at Yale University that defined Down East Maine humor for years to come. Their original 1958 album became a top seller.
Bryan was a native of Long Island, New York, who soaked up the local humor and vernacular during summers in Maine. He died Wednesday in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He was 87.
He was a minister, in addition to a story teller.
Dean Lunt from Islandport Press said Bryan used some of his "Bert and I" earnings to buy a float plane that he used to minister to fishing villages in northern Quebec. He also created the Quebec-Labrador Foundation.
