CARY, N.C. (AP) — Charlyn Corral scored a pair of goals and Mexico beat Trinidad and Tobago 4-1 on Sunday in the group stage of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying tournament.

Mexico needed the win to stay alive in Group A with one more match to go in the stage. Earlier on Sunday, Carli Lloyd scored three goals to lead the United States to a 5-0 victory over Panama at Sahlen's Stadium.

Corral's goal came in the 33rd minute when Trinidad goalkeeper Kimika Forbes popped away a shot right into Corral's path for the easy tap in. Jonelle Cato tied the game with a penalty kick in the 50th minute.

Katie Johnson's header pulled Mexico back in front in the 55th minute. Corral scored her second some seven minutes later and Maria Sanchez added a header in the 71st.

Mexico lost 6-0 to the United States in its Group A opener, while Trinidad and Tobago lost 3-0 to Panama.

Group B, which includes Canada, Cuba, Jamaica and Costa Rica, is playing in Edinburg, Texas. The top two finishers in each group will advance to the semifinals in Frisco, Texas on Oct. 14.
