BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgian migration minister Theo Francken says he want no part of a United Nations pact on safe and orderly migration, an international deal that has pushed Belgium's government to the brink of collapse.

Francken said Thursday that his right-wing N-VA party wants "nothing to do with it."

Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Israel, Poland, Switzerland and Australia are among the countries that have dropped their support for the pact, set to be formally approved in Marrakech, Morocco on Dec. 10-11.

Francken said the deal is "way too pro-migration. It doesn't have the nuance that it needs to have to also comfort European citizens."

Prime Minister Charles Michel is taking the pact to parliament for approval against the wishes of the N-VA, the biggest party in his governing coalition.
