OLY--SNOW VOLLEYBALL-AMERICANS
The United States is sending a pair of teams to a European snow volleyball tour event in Moscow this week (Dec. 20-22), a boost for the sport as it tries to grow a worldwide footprint. Four-time Olympian Lloy Ball, who won the gold medal with the U.S. indoor team in 2008, will play in the tournament and hopes to bring home some information on how the Americans can compete as the new discipline tries to earn a spot in the 2026 Olympics. PARIS — For a dare, the inventors of parkour used to hold each other upside down by the feet on a drop large enough to kill them if they slipped. From those high-adrenaline beginnings in the outskirts of Paris, parkour has now become such a global success — even featured in Daniel Craig's first spin as James Bond — that the governing body of gymnastics is trying to annex it.
