Starting her career with a local cable network in 1993, Anita joined the Current Affairs Programming Section of ZEE Telefilms in 1995.
Anita has made it her mission to expose malpractice, corruption and inhumanity. Joining Rajat Sharma when he started Independent News Service as a content provider, she produced sharp, provocative stories for the programme "Awaaz" and later for "Aaj Ki Baat", a daily news programme. A gutsy reporter, she has reported live on elections, terrorist strikes, earthquakes, drought under challenging circumstances.
Anita has produced & anchored a series on consumer alert programme called “Sab Golmaal Hai” focusing on consumer affairs /food adulteration & public interest. Using sting operations wherever necessary, she exposed a wide range of issues that affect consumers: spurious products from milk to drugs; unscrupulous blood banks; the racket in school admissions, etc. She has produced many documentaries over issues - plight of Vrindavan widows, Misuse of Act 498A, Indo-Pak relation, Partition a scar, Kashmiri Pandits' exodus from the valley and several others.
With over 28 years of experience coupled with relentless passion for journalism, Anita Sharma is currently Managing Editor - News operations with India TV and is involved with the daily functions, planning and execution of content on the channel.
