In a significant alteration, Trinamool Congress (TMC) national spokesperson and senior leader Kunal Ghosh replaced his affiliation with "journalist" and "social activist" in his bio on X, sparking rumours about his potential departure from the party. Earlier in his last tweet on Thursday, Ghosh stated: "Incompetent, group-centric, and selfish leaders. Will continue to deceive all year round, yet faces tough competition from Didi, Abhishek, @AITCofficial. Victory depends on the enthusiasm of party workers, not personal gain, which may not be repeated."
Accusations without naming names
In a post on his official X handle, Ghosh indirectly criticised certain leaders within the Trinamool Congress, accusing them of selfishness and factionalism. Although he refrained from explicitly naming anyone, his remarks hinted at internal rifts within the party.
Potential target identified
Sources within the party suggested that Ghosh's remarks may have been directed at an influential leader from North Kolkata, with whom he has had ongoing conflicts.
Silence amidst speculation
Following the changes to his social media profile, Ghosh has reportedly been unreachable and has refrained from engaging with the media. Despite tensions with a faction of the Trinamool Congress leadership, Ghosh had previously retained his political identity on social media.
Ghosh issues clarification
Refuting all speculations, Ghosh said that he will remain a "team soldier" and considered Mamata as his leader and Abhishek Banerjee his "commander".
"I do not want to hold the post of State General Secretary and Spokesperson of @AITCofficial. I am a misfit in the system. I am unable to run the task. I will remain as a team soldier. Please do not tolerate rumors of defection @MamataOfficial my leader, @abhishekaitc my commander, @AITCofficial my team," he posted on X.
