A temporary gate collapses at West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's event in Kolkata. Two persons were injured in the incident. The event was organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department at Dhanadhanya Auditorium to mark the 44th death anniversary of legendary actor Uttam Kumar. The injured have been taken to the nearby SSKM Hospital.
Two persons were injured after a hoarding fell on them in front of an auditorium in the metropolis, moments before the CM arrived there for an award ceremony, police said.
In the video of the incident, a person is seen injured and a few people are carrying him towards the ambulance.
The incident took place in the afternoon near the entrance of the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore area, they said.
"Their condition is stated to be critical. We are trying to ascertain whether this was an accident or a security lapse," a senior police officer said.
A few other hoardings near the auditorium were removed following the incident, he said.
Banerjee was at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium to take part in an award function to mark the death anniversary of the cine legend.
