Protests can be defused if PM Modi drops NRC: Shashi Tharoor

 Congress leader Shashi Tharoor attended Kerala Literature Festival in Kozhikode on January 19. Tharoor targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister over Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). He said, "Protests can be defused if Narendra Modi and Amit Shah say 'we are dropping idea of NRC', that they will no longer ask NPR enumeration and go to every door asking - 'where your father and mother were born' and ask for documentary proof." He further added, "But they are not prepared to give all those assurances and it says about their intent. Their intention is very much to identify people living in India".
