AAP is responsible for delay in hanging of Nirbhaya's convicts: Smriti Irani

Amidst the uncertainty over hanging of Nirbhaya's convicts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on January 17 accused the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi of delaying the execution of all the four convicts. "The Supreme Court had dismissed the review petition (of Nirbhaya's convicts) in July 2018. Since July 2018, the Prisons Department which comes under the Delhi government did not wake up until Nirbhaya's mother started appealing publicly. What is the reason for keeping Nirbhaya and her mother away from justice? What is the reason for AAP government's lawyer stating in court that the hanging of Nirbhaya's convicts will be delayed?" said Union Women andChild Development Minister Smriti Irani.
