Two individuals working for a TV news channel were killed on Sunday, supposedly after their motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck, police said.
The incident occurred around 7.45 a.m. on a stretch in Sector 62 that leads to the Elevated Road and is within the boundaries of the Sector 24 police station, they claimed.
The accident occurred on the elevated road near the ISKCON temple in Sector 33, according to the police, and the two individuals, who used to work at a media organisation in Noida, were traveling toward Ghaziabad at the time.
“The injured were sent to the private Kailash Hospital where both succumbed during treatment. The duo has been identified as Manoj Kumar (45) and Gaurav (38), both residents of Ghaziabad,” police said in a statement.
They stated that the pickup truck involved in the accident has been impounded while its driver has fled.
An official stated, "of the two motorcycle riders, only one was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident."
The departed worked for a Hindi television news channel situated in Film City in Area 16A of Noida, one of their colleagues said.
The movement of traffic on the elevated road following the mishap was affected for some time.
In another incident that took place in Noida, a model died and one person got injured after a lighting truss fell on her during a fashion show at Film City on Sunday.
The victim was identified as a 24-year-old girl, Vanshika Chopra, a resident of Gaur City-2, Greater Noida. The injured person was Bobby Raj, a resident of Agra, who was taken to a nearby hospital after the accident.
The organiser of the fashion show and those who installed the lighting truss are being questioned by Noida police.
The incident took place during the fashion show at the studio at around 1.30 pm, police said.
