As several districts in Uttar Pradesh are reeling under heavy rains, as many as 19 people have in the past 24 hours in the state. The heavy rains have also disrupted normal life, particularly in the state’s central region.
On Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department also issued a red alert for three districts in the state. The alert has been issued in Banda, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur districts. The weather department said that heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and sudden strong wind (30-40 km/h) is expected in these districts.
Lucknow to witness clear weather
According to the IMD, the weather is expected to remain clear in Lucknow on Tuesday. Apart from this, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning sudden strong winds in Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Ayodhya, Basti, Barabanki, Sitapur, Bahraich, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Shahjahanpur, and Lakhimpur Kheri.
Schools closed in some districts
Meanwhile, schools in several districts of Uttar Pradesh have been instructed to stay closed on Tuesday due to severe weather warnings. The schools in Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Gonda will remain closed today, September 12, in the wake of inclement weather conditions.
Rain wreaked havoc in UP
Earlier on Monday, roof collapses, cases of drowning and deaths due to lightning were reported in parts of the state. Some localities in the capital Lucknow faced waterlogging. In Barabanki, rail tracks were flooded. In 22 districts of the state, there has been over 40 mm rain in the last 24 hours including Moradabad, Sambhal, Kannauj, Rampur, Hathras, Barabanki, Kasganj, Bijnor, Amroha, Bahraich, Lucknow, Badaun, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Firozabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Kanpur, Sitapur Farrukhabad, Lakhimpur Kheri and Fatehpur.
