A man allegedly slit his wife's throat while she was asleep in their house in the Tarapuri area of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, said police on Friday. Tasleem, a 50-year-old woman, was discovered dead with her body covered in blood on her cot this morning after which the family informed the police. The police are currently making efforts to apprehend Israr, the 54-year-old husband, in connection with the case.
Lisari Gate Station House Officer (SHO) Jitendra Singh said that the complaint was filed by Tasleem's son, who alleged that Israr murdered his wife, Tasleem, while she was asleep at their home by slitting her throat. At the time of the incident, other family members were sleeping in another room.
Israr was suspicious of affair
According to the investigation so far, the police said that Israr had suspicions about Tasleem being involved in another relationship, which resulted in frequent arguments and fights between them. Police said there was a fight between the couple on the same issue on the night of the incident also. The couple had been married for 35 years.
The SHO said that the police promptly responded to the information regarding Tasleem's demise, took control of her body and sent it for post-mortem. Further investigations in the matter are underway, he added.
