Umesh Pal murder case: In the latest revelation in the Umesh Pal murder case, the deceased had filed a case against jailed gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his accomplices for demanding extortion of Rs one crore for land in Prayagraj's Jhalwa. Umesh Pal had alleged that when he went to see the land, he was threatened and told that the land would be only his after he pays Rs 1 crore.
While Umesh Pal had filed an FIR against Atiq Ahmed and his henchmen, the deceased friend had filed a case against the stongman's brother Ashraf lodged in Bareilly Jail.

Authorities demolished the house of a criminal allegedly linked to Atiq Ahmed on Friday amid heavy police deployment, the third such demolition in three days. PDA officials arrived at the house of Mashookuddin, who has dozens of cases registered against him, in Puramufti area with bulldozers and other heavy-duty earth movers and began pulling down the structure. PDA officials said the house was built illegally.
