Uttar Pradesh: Sub-inspector returning after investigating dowry case shot dead in Firozabad
A sub-inspector in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh was shot dead by unidentified assailants while returning to his police outpost.
A sub-inspector (SI) of the Uttar Pradesh Police was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in the Firozabad district on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Chandra Mishra (55), a resident of Agra, who was in-charge of the Chandanpur outpost of Aurav police station in the district.
The incident took place while he was returning from Chandpur village, where he had gone for an investigation into a dowry case. Reportedly, while returning, Mishra was shot in the chest following which he was rushed to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
"The incident took place when Sub-inspector Dinesh Kumar Mishra, posted at Araon police station, was returning from Chandpur village, where he had gone for investigation in a dowry case. Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the case and arrest the culprits. The Gangsters' Act will be invoked against the accused," said Firozabad Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashish Tiwari.
