Three children dead, five others injured after tractor falls into canal in UP's Sitapur

Several people including children were travelling in the tractor when it fell into a canal in Sitapur. The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital.

Uttar Pradesh: At least three children have died while five people were critically injured when the tractor they were in, fell into a canal in Sitapur, CO Mahmudabad Dinesh Shukla informed.

Earlier on Thursday, two members of a family were killed and one other was injured when the motorcycle they were riding on was allegedly hit by a car in UP's Ghazipur, police said.

According to the police, Anil Kumar, a resident of Paraspur Chaura of Bhudkuda police station area, was travelling on a motorcycle with his pregnant wife Kanchan Devi (28) and son Ayansh (4) when they were hit by a bus near Piyari Bazaar in Saidpur Kotwali area on Wednesday.

Devi died on the spot and Ayansh succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, they said, adding that Kumar is undergoing treatment.

The road was briefly blocked by the locals and was cleared only after Sub Divisional Magistrate Dr Pushpendra Patel and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shekhar Sengar reached the spot and pacified them, the police said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, they said.

Before that, on Monday, two children died when a tractor-trolley hit a motorcycle on which they were riding.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mukesh Chandra Mishra said Gangaram (50), Hukum Singh (22), Ashish (14), Akash (16) and Lakshya (4), all residents of Dhaluapur village, were going on two motorcycles to attend a wedding ceremony.

On the way to Baresar, a tractor-trolley hit the motorcycles.

Ashish and Lakshya died in the accident while Gangaram and Hukum Singh got injured, he said, adding that Akash had a narrow escape. Mishra said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
