Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Shivpal Yadav on Sunday announced that he will be supporting his nephew Akshay Yadav from Firozabad Lok Sabha Seat in Uttar Pradesh.
Questions have now been raised about whether SP will give a ticket to Akshay Yadav from the same seat this time as well.
This statement further says states that he is not going to contest from Firozabad seat this time. Earlier, Shivpal Yadav broke away from the Samajwadi Party and formed a separate Progressive Socialist Party.
In the 2019 elections, although he had lost, his hold in the area was such that snatched victory from the clutches of his nephew and put it in the hands of BJP. Dr. Chandrasen of BJP got the advantage of the triangular contest on this seat and he won.
Akshay Yadav is the son of Samajwadi Party's veteran leader Ram Gopal Yadav and he has been a Member of Parliament from this seat before. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Akshay had contested from this Firozabad seat on SP ticket and won.
