The software engineer who was said to be upset consumed some poisonous substance. The police are however, investigating whether his ex-wife met Tarun only on Monday or she was with him for days as it appears that both of them decided to die together.
A man and his ex-wife allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison in his house on Monday, police said. The duo's bodies were found by their family members at the man's house in Sector 122, Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police Harish Chander said.
According to police, Tarun, a resident of Meerut, working as a software engineer in an IT company located in Sector 16, Noida, was living alone in Sector 122. When Tarun did not pick up his family's calls on Monday, the worried family members sent another relative, Suraj, to Tarun's house. When Suraj reached the house he found Tarun lying on the floor and beside was the body of Sarita, the deceased's ex-wife. Sarita used to stay in Meerut and was posted as chief nurse in a private hospital.
On being informed about the incident, a police team reached the spot and recovered the bodies, Chander said. "A suicide note was found from the spot and a bottle of poisonous substance was also recovered, suggesting that the couple consumed it to kill themselves," the DCP said.
In the suicide note found at the spot, Tarun has written about being upset and not being able to make anyone happy. He has also mentioned a few names who are to be taken care of. Police will be conducting a forensic investigation of the suicide note. The police are also investigating whether Sarita met Tarun only on Monday or she was with him for days and under the circumstances both of them decided to die together. The police is examining the mobile phones of deceased Tarun and Sarita and CCTV footage of the surrounding area.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem, the police said, adding that an investigation is underway.
