A buffalo brought to a market for the sacrifice on Bakrid created an uproar after rampaged through a crowded market in Morababad, Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night. It was brought on a truck and as soon as the gates of the truck opened to unload it, the animal jumped off and started trampling the people in the crowd. The incident triggered a stampede-like situation in the market.
People in a huge number gathered at Patthar Chowk market in the Thana Galshaheed area to see the buffalo brought from outside in a truck for sacrifice on the occasion of Bakrid.
In the dramatic video, people are seen running away, while some were running after buffalo to catch it. The drama continued for hours as the animal ran several kilometres away from the truck. However, after several attempts by some people, the buffalo came under control. Several people got injured in the incident.
The festival of Bakrid is around the corner, so people are thronging to buy and sell animals for sacrifice in markets in Muslim-dominant areas.
