A tragic incident occurred in Meerut’s Zakir Colony in the Lohiya Nagar area when a three-storey building collapsed, claiming the lives of four people, including a young girl. Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena confirmed the deaths and stated that another child is in critical condition and has been admitted to the hospital.
Rescue teams, including the NDRF and SDRF, have successfully pulled out 10 people from the debris, including women and children. However, several other family members are still trapped beneath the rubble.
Heavy rain and the large crowd at the site are hindering the ongoing rescue operations. The authorities are working to clear the area and expedite the rescue process.

CM Yogi Adityanath takes cognizance
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken immediate notice of the incident and instructed the district officials to ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured. He also wished for their swift recovery and directed officials to expedite relief efforts at the site.
Selva Kumari, Commissioner Meerut Division said, "A building has collapsed in Zakir Colony. 8-10 people are trapped under it. Rescue operation is underway...Police and fire officials are carrying out rescue operation. Army, NDRF, SDRF have been informed."
