Lucknow: Man shot dead at Union Minister's residence after dispute over losing money in gambling, say police

An FIR was registered at Thakurganj police station against three persons -- Ajay Rawat, Ankit Verma and Shamim Verma -- in connection with the death of Vinay Srivastava.

Uttar Pradesh: The Lucknow Police on Friday informed that Vinay Srivastava, who was shot dead at Union Minister and BJP MP Kaushal Kishore's residence in Lucknow, was killed after a row over losing money in gambling. Three people have been arrested in the case.

Vinay Srivastava was shot dead at the residence of Union Minister Kaushal Kishore in the early hours on September 1 around 4:15 am. 

The victim was a close friend of Union Minister Kaushal Kishore's son Vikas.

Vinay Srivastava was killed over losing Rs 15,000 in gambling. A person named Ankit is being allegedly accused for killing Vinay, police informed. 

The murder took place during pistol snatching incident.

An FIR was registered at Thakurganj police station against three persons -- Ajay Rawat, Ankit Verma and Shamim Verma in connection with the death of a person at the residence of Union Minister Kaushal Kishore in Lucknow, police informed earlier.

Earlier in the day, DCP West Lucknow Rahul Raj while speaking on the matter said, "Vinay Shrivastava, aged 30 years has been shot dead at the residence of Vinay Kishore. The incident took place around 4 am today. Dog Squad, Crime Branch and Forensic teams are at the spot for investigation. On the complaint of the deceased's brother, an FIR has been registered. Licensed revolver has been found, we are investigating that. The body has been sent for post-mortem."

Speaking on the matter, BJP MP Kaushal Kishore said, "I don't know how the incident occurred. It is a sad incident. Police are investigating the matter. When I got to know about the incident, I informed the police commissioner about it. We stand with the family of Vinay (victim)... The pistol belonged to Vikas (Kishore). Since he was travelling outside the city, he had left the pistol behind at home. We have given CCTV footage to the police. Vikas is really sad as Vinay was his close friend."

"This is a matter of investigation. Forensic teams and police have started the investigation. The person involved will not be spared. We are standing in support of the family members of the deceased. I have no idea who was at the residence when the incident took place," the Union Minister further said.
