Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), announced during today's meeting that her party will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections independently and will not participate in any alliance.

In the meeting, Mayawati criticised the BJP for passing the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament, alleging that the BJP did so solely for electoral gains. She claimed that the BJP is seeking to benefit from the bill during the upcoming legislative and Lok Sabha elections in several states.

Uma Shankar Singh, the state president of the BSP in Uttar Pradesh, was also present at the meeting.

Last month, Mayawati had emphasised that her party leaders were diligently working to bolster preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Taking to her Twitter handle, Mayawati mentioned that after Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, senior leaders of the BSP had deliberated on reinforcing the party's organization in Jharkhand. They also finalised candidates for 14 seats in the state.

"Continuing the series of state-wise meetings by the BSP regarding the preparations for the Lok Sabha elections, after UP and Uttarakhand, senior leaders discussed strengthening the party organisation in Jharkhand, increasing the mass base at all levels, and the selection of candidates for 14 seats in the state. An important meeting with office bearers has concluded," Mayawati wrote on Twitter.

“A call to strengthen the party at every level by putting forward hardworking and honest people in the tribal-dominated Jharkhand state, because the anti-Ambedkarite people are continuously neglected and despised by the anti-Ambedkarite parties,” she added.

Earlier, the BSP chief had urged her party leaders and workers not to rely on alliances and to stand independently. This development follows Mayawati's announcement last month that the Bahujan Samaj Party would contest the elections without forming any alliances and would do so "independently."

She characterised the I.N.D.I.A parties and NDA as "anti-poor, casteist, communal, and pro-capitalist."

"BSP, like in 2007, will single-handedly contest the upcoming general elections and four state assemblies by connecting crores of neglected and scattered people of the society on the basis of mutual brotherhood, rather than the jugaad’ and manipulation done by opponents," she asserted.

She also stated that the policies of most parties in the NDA-India alliance were anti-poor, casteist, communal, and pro-capitalist, yet the BSP had participated in elections in alliance with them. Hence, her appeal to the media was, "no fake news, please," concluded the BSP leader
