As the situation remains evolving in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich after the killing of a man during the religious procession, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday hinted at a conspiracy behind the incident. BJP Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said that there is a need to understand whose power has increased such incidents are on the rise.

He was asked about the Bahraich incident to which he said that UP CM Yogi Adityanath has clearly said that strict actions will be taken. He added, "Whose power has increased in the last few months that such incidents are on the rise?" Making a veiled attack on Congress, Trivedi said, "Some people were saying that power has increased, who were they?"

"Who are these powers that want to weaken Bharat?" asked BJP leader Trivedi. He also urged people to see incidents like train derailment bids, and threat mail among others as a part of a single conspiracy and not as isolated events.

FIR lodged

Notably, on Monday, the family of the victim, along with thousands of protestors reached the Tehsil with the dead body and started a demonstration. Meanwhile, the angry protestors torched several properties including a private hospital and a two-wheelers showroom. The local police resorted to tear gas shelling to disperse the protestors.

After the violence escalated, on the instructions of CM Yogi, ACS Home and ADG Law and Order reached the spot. Bahraich SP Vrinda Shukla said, "We are gaining control of the whole situation. We have mobilised all our forces. We are trying to disperse all the miscreants who are trying to create trouble. The situation is under control." Earlier on Sunday, he had said that the responsible people would be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the administration has registered an FIR on 10 people in the case. The case has been registered against Abdul Hameed, Rinku aka Sarfaraz, Faheem, Raza aka Sahir Khan, Nankau, Maaruf Ali and 4 other unidentified persons.
