Shaista Parveen, wife of slained gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, was declared a mafia by the Prayagraj police. The police mentioned Parveen as a mafia criminal in their FIR. It has also been mentioned in the FIR that Parveen carries a shooter as her bodyguard. Her shooter's name is Sabir, who was an accused in the Umesh Pal shootout case and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh.
On May 2, Rajesh Kumar Maurya, the in-charge of Dhumanganj police station in Prayagraj, lodged an FIR in his own police station. Police filed the FIR after raiding the house of Atin Zafar, a friend of her son Asad.
After the murder of Atiq Ahmed on April 15, Shaista stayed at Zafar's house on April 16 to attend his funeral. After the arrest of Zafar on May 2, the police, on its part, filed an FIR against him. In this FIR, Parveen has been described as a mafia criminal.
Threat post on social media; Prayagraj police files case
Prayagraj police filed a case after a threat message surfaced on social media to avenge gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's murder on Sunday. It is believed that the supporters of Atiq are angry since the shooting of Atiq and his brother Ashraf. But they were not able to react due to the fear of police action. However, a threatening message is viral on social media in which his supporter venting his anger. The tweet was made from a Twitter handle named 'The Sajjad Mughal'. The tweet threatened to avenge the murder of Atiq and Ashraf and settle scores.
ADG takes cognizance
An old video of a speech made by Atiq Ahmed's son was also posted in this tweet. When this tweet started going viral, UP's ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, taking cognizance, sent a letter to Prayagraj's cyber crime station and directed them to take action. After this, the cyber cell of police registered a case on that Twitter handle under section 505 and section 66 of the IT Act.
Earlier, Atiq and Ashraf were shot dead by three men- Arun, Lavlesh and Sunny in police custody outside Colvin Hospital, Prayagraj. The police had arrested all three shooters.

On April 25, a Twitter handle named 'The Sajjad Mughal' wrote, "The race is not over yet. Atiq's son Ali is still alive. Inshallah circumstances, time and the government will change. Then Allahabad will also be called and will avenge."
