Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed during his interrogation has confessed that his arms supplies were coming from Pakistan, sources said. The gangster and his brother Ashraf have been interrogated for almost 24 hours.

Atiq Ahmed, who is currently in police custody in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case, had sought permission from a magistrate to attend the funeral of his son Asad who was killed in a police encounter. He also pleaded with the police to atleast show the funeral procession on TV or mobile but was denied, sources claimed.

Asad and his accomplice Ghulam, both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead in an exchange of fire with the Uttar Pradesh Police near Jhansi on Thursday.

'Asad was to flee Gulf countries'

Atiq Ahmed's wife Shahista Parveen had instructed Ghulam, who was killed in a police encounter along with her son, not to leave the side of Asad. And both, Shahista Parveen and Ghulam, were constantly trying to save Asad by dodging the police, sources said. Asad also had tried to flee Nepal or any Gulf country but couldn't because of passport issues.
