In yet another natural calamity, the holy flag atop Sri Mandir in Odisha’s Puri flew off on June 15 raising concerns among the devotees as it is considered a bad omen for the Hindu community. This is the fourth time that the ‘Patitapabana’ flag has been snapped off from the holy shrine in the recent past. In the first incident, the holy flag stopped flying as it got tied into a knot while during the second instance, the manasika flag caught fire on Papamochani Ekadasi last week. On the third occasion, the flag detached from the shrine just before the cyclone Ampah hit the state.
Reports suggest that devotees, who are already living in fear due to the coronavirus scare, have expressed concern over the holy flag being blown away once again.
