The world is celebrating the 10th International Yoga Day today (June 21). Pictures from across the countries are coming where people are performing asanas. Be it New York Times Square or Tel Aviv, people were cheerfully practising Yoga and spreading the message of the importance of physical and mental fitness.
Meanwhile, heartwarming visuals emerged from Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur where a pariah dog performed Yoga. The pariah dog, named Jimmy has been trained by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The video shows Jimmy imitating other NDRF personnel and performing different asanas. He performed Yoga with the 13th battalion of the NDRF.
Notably, this year marks the decennial anniversary of the International Day of Yoga. The theme for this year is "Yoga for Self and Society". This theme highlights the importance of yoga not only for own well-being but also for the harmony of communities and society. In 2024, marking the 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an event Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir and performed Yoga with thousands of people.

Later, PM Modi took yoga selfies in Srinagar, marking the end of a mega event on the bank of Dal Lake. Meanwhile, the Indian armed forces also celebrated the International Day with full enthusiasm. Indian Army personnel held Yoga on the snow clade northern front while Indian Navy officials practised asanas on INS Vikramaditya. Moreover, some Yoga masters performed Yoga in the ocean at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu.
In Gujarat, a joint event of the BSF and state Yog Board was organised in which the state CM Bhupendra Patel participated and performed Yoga. To spread awareness about the ancient practice, he announced to establish as many as 51 Yoga Studios across Gujarat.
Moreover, The BSF also practices various asanas at zero line at JCP Attari, Amritsar on the occasion of International Day of Yoga. Notably, Yoga as an exercise to remain fit has many benefits. The physical benefits include, Enhanced flexibility and strength, posture and spinal health, boosted immunity. While the menta benefits include, stress reduction, concentration, mental clarity improvement, and emotional stability.
