Hyderabad Police reported on Tuesday that they received a bomb threat targeting Praja Bhavan, previously known as Pragati Bhavan, located in Begumpet, Hyderabad. The area was immediately cordoned off as police and the bomb disposal squad rushed to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
Police statement and immediate response
“Hyderabad Police received a bomb threat to Praja Bhavan. The bomb disposal team is at the spot and verifying it," said a police inspector on the scene. The swift response reflects heightened security measures amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Nationwide bomb threats amid elections
The bomb threat in Hyderabad coincides with a series of similar threats across the country during the election period. Earlier in the day, a bomb threat was received for IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi at Delhi airport. The aircraft was evacuated and moved to an isolation bay for a detailed security check, which revealed no suspicious items.
Delhi airport incident details
"We have to find out what situation forced the crew members to evacuate the passengers through the emergency gate," an official stated. "The flight was cleared after security check, but the moment it was about to take off, the note was found, and it was moved to the isolation bay for thorough checks."
Surge in bomb threats
India faced over 15 bomb threats in May, targeting sensitive locations such as Delhi University, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and major airports. Although most threats have been hoaxes, central agencies are actively investigating to identify the sources behind these threats.
Security measures and investigations
The persistent threats have prompted rigorous security protocols and extensive investigations by multiple central agencies to ensure public safety and uncover the motives behind these disruptions.
