Seven Naxalites killed in police encounter in Telangana's Mulugu

According to police, the encounter between the police and Naxalities started in the Eturunagaram forest area. The Telangana Police also seized two AK-47 weapons from the scene.

In a major success in the anti-Naxal operation, the police neutralised seven dreaded Naxalites in the Mulugu district of Telangana, according to the police. Providing the information, SP Mulugu Dr Shabarish said that the encounter between the police and Naxalites ensued in the Eturunagaram forest area.

The encounter started during a combing operation in the forest area of Eturnagaram between Greyhounds by an elite anti-naxal force of Telangana Police and the ultras, police said. "Seven Maoists were killed in the exchange of fire", a senior police official said, adding two AK 47 rifles were among the weapons seized from the scene.

Among those killed in the encounter, one was identified as Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, Secretary of Telangana State Committee (Yellandu Narsampet) of the banned CPI (Maoist), he said.
