Infinix GT 20 Pro Review: A budget gaming smartphone with appreciable performance
Infinix GT 20 Pro comes with a strong processor which supports high-end games and is further accompanied by gaming accessories which are worth getting your hands on. Here is our detailed review to let you know about the gaming strength and performance of the device.
For game lovers, Infinix has recently launched a budget-friendly smartphone by the name of ‘GT 20 Pro’. The new smartphone has been launched with MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate SoC, a triple rear camera unit led by a 108-megapixel primary sensor, dedicated Pixel Works X5 Turbo chip for smartphone gamers.
We reviewed the device for more than 20 days and here is our honest review for the budgeted gaming phone to let you know if this device is worth buying or not.
Looks: A cool-looking smartphone
When you first see the GT 20 Pro, it is clear that it is made for gamers as it comes with a techie design on the rear panel. It looks totally like a gaming device indeed. The glass back panel is see-through, which looks cool, but it attracts fingerprints easily- so it is suggested to use the back cover- which comes bundled in the box of the device.
There's a "Mecha Loop Lighting" – a semi-circular strip on the rear panel which lights up (kind of similar to that which we witnessed in Nothing smartphones). These lights are changeable, and the colours and patterns can be changed according- adding a customizable touch to the device.
Display: Decent and vivid
The smartphone comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate- which means it is certainly great at gaming – delivering a smooth and vivid display. You can easily scroll through the apps and menus flawlessly.
Although the display of the phone is vibrant and immersive, some phone still comes with a better display experience at this price point, with higher resolutions.
Performance: Great gaming experience
The GT 20 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, which is certainly very powerful when compared to other processors. The smartphone is capable of handling heavy gaming like BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, Asphalt 9, some zombie-related games and more which performed well. Even when several apps are open, where the device does not lag, making it a really good multitasking smartphone.
Gaming Accessories: Additional
Along with the smartphone, Infinix launched a gaming kit too which includes a cool-looking case for the smartphone, a cooling fan and a sleeve for your thumb to slide smoothly during the gameplay on the display.
The fan is the best highlight of the smartphone, which is not seen with other brands (mainly talking). It helps to keep the phone cool during long gaming sessions, but it certainly does not change the performance of the device. Yes, the phone heats up during heavy gaming- and it needs to cool down, so the fan is a must-have accessory.
Cameras: Good, but not the best
The smartphone comes with a 108MP sensor, which delivers good pictures during bright daylight, and ok during the low light condition. Photos are indeed detailed with accurate colours, and videos are stable too- thanks to OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
However, the phone does not have an ultra-wide lens, and 2MP macro and depth sensors do not add much value either.
Battery Life: Wise
With a 5000mAh battery, the GT 20 Pro could last for a long gaming session easily. The only sad part about the device is the 45W fast charging charger which certainly is not that fast- like other devices are available at this price tag. What we think is that a gaming smartphone must feature at least 65W faster charging.
Verdict
The new Infinix GT 20 Pro is a strong contender at Rs 24,999- which comes with a strong processor and gaming capabilities. It comes with a good design, backlight, strong performance capabilities and a smooth display. Also, the gaming accessories are a great addition to the company and are a must-have if you planning to buy this gaming smartphone. It indeed, is an eye-catching device and could be a great choice for someone who is looking for a good smartphone with a strong processor.
The only shortcoming that I felt was the camera, which could have been better. Yes, another thing is heating, which is fine if you use a cooling fan.
Overall, a budget-friendly smartphone which could handle demanding high-end games, this device is a good pick under the 25K range.
