The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 is scheduled to take place on June 10 and will be broadcast all across the world via the official page of Apple and from its YouTube channel. With several rumours and speculations surfacing, it has been said that Apple will not make any hardware-related announcements at the event. As per the new report, the developer event will showcase the next iteration of iOS, iPadOS and other Apple software.

But a new report suggested that the event will solely focus on software-related announcements, and the rumours of the next-generation Apple TV will not be on the agenda.

No hardware announcement: Reason

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, in his ‘Power On newsletter’ stated that Apple is not planning to make any hardware announcement, at its developer conference.

In the newsletter, Gurman said, “There's no hardware slated to be announced at WWDC, unless Apple unexpectedly previews a new device launching later (to be clear: I don't expect that).”

No Apple TV announcement at WWDC

The Apple analyst further came up with several rumours related to the next-generation Apple TV, which was said to launch in the first half of 2024. His speculations (earlier) stated that the new Apple TV would come with a faster processor and an affordable price tag (when compared to the other existing devices) that was predicted to be unleashed at the WWDC.

But now, Gurman has said that the launch “isn't imminent”.

WWDC 2024- Expected announcements

WWDC, like every year is expected to showcase updates and new features which will be incorporated into the operating systems (OS) for multiple Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

AI capabilities

Also, the rumours suggest that the iPhone's next big update, which is said to be the ‘iOS 18’ might adopt artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities- to join the race of advanced devices.

Siri Update

Siri, which is a popular voice assistant of Apple has been tipped to get big upgrades, which will include the ability to ask follow-up questions to have clarity. As per the recent report, Apple has reportedly secured a deal with OpenAI to lend its proprietary AI technology which further includes its conversational chatbot ‘ChatGPT’ (head by OpenAI).

Emojis

Gurman further stated that the upcoming iOS 18 is expected to feature AI-powered custom emojis, besides the existing emoji library which is available on the iPhones. Also, it could further offer the ability to customise the screen's layout accordingly, which will enable the users to arrange icons more freely (customizable).

However, Apple is said to have followed its strategy of keeping everything under wraps till the launch event takes place. Most probably, the expected updates are said to be announced during the keynote at WWDC, and the rest of everything is speculation.
