WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform owned by Meta has rolled out the Communities feature in India (back in November 2022) for Android devices, iOS phones and Web users. The newly introduced feature enables users to connect to the masses, giving a more interactive way to engage with the masses- with different subjects, information, humour and more.

The main idea behind the Communities feature on WhatsApp was to focus on bringing people with similar interests. The Communities tab further appears on iOS and Android devices, and the platform has also brought in the tab for the iPad app.

As per the WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is working towards enhancing its iPad app with a new communities tab. The latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.13.10.74 update on the TestFlight app revealed the new. This development further marks a significant upgrade, enabling iPad users to efficiently manage and navigate their group communities directly within the app on their Apple device itself.

WABetaInfo further shared a screenshot in their story which highlights a glimpse of how the new feature of WhatsApp will look on the iPad.

WhatsApp's recent updates have enhanced the community management experience significantly for iPad users. Earlier, the users had to navigate through their chat lists to find the community conversations. But now, with the help of a dedicated Communities tab, users will be able to effortlessly access and manage all their groups in a single place. This feature claims to mark a substantial improvement, especially for iPad users who can explore, create and manage communities directly from their device.

Earlier, before this update, iPad users used to have limited functionalities when compared to those who were using the main devices. Creating and managing communities for restricting tasks to primary devices, and leaving iPad users has been considered as a disadvantage.

With the latest beta update, WhatsApp is working on levelling up the playing field and providing iPad users with comprehensive tools which will enable them to handle their group chats effectively. They could initiate new communities, by overseeing the existing ones, and view a complete list of all their joined groups, which will enhance the overall user experience.

Furthermore, it is important to note that WhatsApp for iPad will remain in the beta testing phase and is accessible via TestFlight.

By the time of writing, the beta program for WhatsApp for iPad app is currently at capacity, and it is preventing new testers from joining in. Also, there is no confirmed release date for the App Store as well, but it is expected to come up anytime soon in the month ahead (July maybe).

With these advancements, WhatsApp has been gearing up to introduce a new feature which will enable the users to create reminders for the upcoming community events. The WABetaInfo report states that this event will reminder feature which will enable community admins to set notifications for scheduled events, ensuring members stay informed and engaged.

The admins will further be able to set reminders to alert other members (in a time frame of 30 minutes, 2 hours, or even a day before the event). This flexibility will enable the admins to cater to the different schedules and preferences of their community members- with the option to select up to two notification timings per event.

Overall, the new WhatsApp Community updates and upcoming features will highlight the enhancement of the user experience, majorly for iPad users- by providing more robust community management tools and improving overall functionality.
