WhatsApp recently rolled out design changes for its iOS and Android mobile apps. Now, the company is testing some new features to further improve users' experience. The first under testing feature makes it much easier for users to zoom while using an in-app camera on WhatsApp while the second feature allows users to create new stickers from their gallery or use Meta AI to generate stickers, via new shortcuts. These features are currently available to beta testers on iOS and are expected to roll out to all users in Android and iOS smartphones.
The first under testing feature was spotted by WABetaInfo. The new zoom control feature is available on WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.9.10.75. Users who have signed up for the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS via TestFlight can update their app to the latest version to access the new camera zoom control button. This button will let them switch between different zoom options when clicking images or recording videos on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp currently offers two ways to zoom in and out while using the in-app camera. Users can either pinch in and out on the viewfinder or swipe up while holding down the capture button. However, neither of these options is as easy or intuitive as having a dedicated zoom button, which is expected to be available to all users in the future.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp introduced a new feature to beta testers who have updated to the WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.9.10.74. According to WABetaInfo, users who have downloaded this version will notice two new shortcuts when they open the sticker selection panel on WhatsApp: Create and Use AI.
WhatsApp new features
The Create shortcut allows users to use an image from their Camera Roll to create a new WhatsApp sticker using the app's built-in sticker editor. Meanwhile, the Use AI shortcut enables users to create stickers using Meta AI, the company's artificial intelligence (AI) service.
