Upcoming OnePlus smartphone likely to get satellite connectivity feature: All we know so far
OnePlus is set to launch a smartphone with satellite connectivity in the near future. Android 15 Beta 2, released during the Google I/O 2024, includes satellite connectivity feature.
OnePlus is set to launch a phone with satellite connectivity soon. Brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google are already offering satellite connectivity in their flagship devices. It is expected that the satellite connectivity feature will be included in OnePlus's next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 13. Google recently released Android 15 Beta 2, which includes satellite features.
According to a report from Android Authority, the satellite feature may be present in OnePlus's upcoming smartphone. A tipster mentioned on the social media platform X that he saw "satellite mobile phone" in the settings of the OnePlus 12 after the Android 15 Beta 2 update.
The satellite connectivity feature was also spotted in Oppo's foldable phone. A similar code string was seen in the Oppo Find N3 foldable phone, indicating potential satellite connectivity. It is expected that the satellite connectivity feature may be available in the upcoming models of both OnePlus and Oppo, although this has not been officially confirmed by the companies.
With the Android 15 Beta 2 update, Google has confirmed that the next mobile operating system will include satellite communication features, allowing users to send and receive SMS and MMS even without network coverage. This feature is expected to be available in the upcoming OnePlus device as well. Google has stated that this feature will be particularly beneficial for users living in remote areas.
Meanwhile, OnePlus is expected to launch its flagship, the OnePlus 13, later this year. However, the rumor mill has already started, suggesting some key specifications of the smartphone. Recently, a tipster has revealed the display specifications of the purported smartphone. The OnePlus 13 is expected to succeed the OnePlus 12 and is likely to feature a 6.6-inch display, similar to its predecessor.
According to information shared by a tipster via Weibo, who goes by the name Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese), the company is testing the purported smartphone with a 6.8-inch micro-curved LTPO screen with a 2K resolution. This suggests that the OnePlus 13 will have the same display size as its predecessor but with some improvements.
